There are good digestive benefits of cinnamon

Jakarta. A study reports an unexpected benefit from consuming cinnamon, which is to effectively cool down the temperature of the stomach which ultimately improves digestive health.

Eating cinnamon, which is usually consumed in powder form, is considered by researchers to reduce carbon dioxide levels in the stomach that has just had a large meal. Makes the temperature of the stomach and body cool, thus making digestion work properly.

Although this study was conducted on pigs, researchers emphasize that the same effect can also occur in humans. “What’s more, cinnamon can protect the walls of the stomach and small intestine, this will help the intestine to absorb food nutrients properly and consistently,” said researcher Kourosh Kalantar-zadeh to the Huffington Post.

And the pigs that ate cinnamon saw significant improvements in their overall health. Researchers believe that cinnamon can lower the levels of stomach acid and pepsin in the intestines, thereby helping blood flow in the stomach wall, which in turn improves the health of the stomach and intestines.

Of course, more research is needed to see if any of this actually applies to humans. However, Kalantar-zadeh says that 1 gram of cinnamon a day can produce health benefits in humans. Conversely, eating 6 grams of cinnamon or more a day can actually be toxic to the body.
