Pasuruan residents are starting to feel the benefits of PGN's jargas

KONTAN.CO.ID – PASURUAN. Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS) continues to add gas networks, especially in the East Java region. One of the areas that has become the target for additional gas networks is the City of Pasuruan.

Karanganyar Village in Gadingrejo District is one of the areas in Pasuruan City where the majority of its residents have a gas network installed.

Karanganyar Urban Village Secretary Heni Hayuni said that currently the population of Karanganyar Village is 11,000 and almost all of them have experienced the benefits of jargas.

“Here there are 2000 heads of families or 11,000 residents. Around 10,000 residents have installed the gas network,” explained Heni, Thursday (17/10).

The experimental phase began in March 2018 with 14 urban villages in Pasuruan, including Gentong, Bakalan, and Karanganyar Villages. This is a program by the Pasuruan City government in collaboration with the central government and PGN.

Ani Kustiani is a resident of Karanganyar Village who has benefited from the installation of PGN’s gas network (jargas). Before using jargas, this 40 year old woman used firewood as fuel for cooking.

Ani admitted that cooking using firewood is quite draining. Because, he had to spend around Rp. 10,000 for one cook. In addition, firewood is also difficult to obtain, so it is not uncommon for this to interfere with cooking activities.

But now, he only pays Rp. 40,000 – Rp. 60,000 for a month’s usage fee. In addition, during using jargas for seven months Ani has not encountered any operational problems. “Using PGN is more economical, it is more efficient. The place is clean too,” said Ani.

In addition, PGN also makes it easier for customers to pay usage fees. Customers can pay gas bills online at the nearest minimarket.

PGN continues to encourage households to use jargas. One of the efforts taken is to eliminate the cost of installing jargas.
